Meet the Staff (Great Neck) – Rod Kelly

Personal Trainer

My name is Rod Kelly, ISSA certified personal trainer.  I’ve been a professional trainer for over 10 years, but enthusiastic about fitness for most of my life.  Fitness has always been a part of my life.  Whether it be training for rugby or football in my college years, or as a competitive body builder in my 20′s.  I’ve always believed that if we take care of ourselves physically, and approach life with a positive attitude, we can accomplish almost any goal and meet any challenge.

Five years ago, I was presented with just that sort of life-changing challenge.  While in the hospital recovering from knee surgery I contracted MRSA.  While fighting to save my leg and ultimately my life, I was then diagnosed with kidney cancer!  Today I’m a MRSA AND CANCER survivor!  Many, including my doctors, believe I survived because my body was physically fit for the fight.  I also maintained a positive approach throughout the battle and lengthy recovery.

Years ago, I had a successful career in finance.  After work I would rush to the gym to meet with friends and clients, working part time as their trainer.  I simply loved helping people achieve their fitness goals–goals many thought they would never achieve.  I knew after surviving cancer that it was time to make a change and do what I loved full time.  That’s why I left my lucrative career to become a full time professional personal trainer.  Whether it’s helping Charles lose 100 lbs. or helping Nick improve from 1 pull up to 13 pull-ups, I’m passionate about what I do for others.

If you’d like some help in reaching your fitness goals, or have just become bored with what you’re currently doing, let’s get together.  I’d like to help you change your outlook and your body.  You’ll become rejuvenated, energetic and invigorated while becoming physically fit and healthy.
